Idaho recently enacted House Bill 331 which will impact the foreclosure process in the state effective September 1st.
The bill requires that an Important Notice, which must be executed by the beneficiary, and a form to request a loan modification be sent to the borrower along with the Notice of Default where the property is the borrower’s primary residence.

The City of Chicago recently amended the vacant property ordinance in its Municipal Code. Significantly, the definition of property owner has been expanded to include mortgagees. As such, mortgagees will be held responsible for repairs, security, general maintenance, and maintaining insurance. Non-compliance may result in fines.
